I work with and advocate for folks with disabilities to life full lives in the community of their choice. This post inspires me to use collaging with them to feel a way to their full life! Thank you for sharing this perspective on goal setting. I love it!!
You impact my thinking every time I read your words. I would love to meet you someday …i imagine having a conversation and somehow know our paths will cross.
I'd love to address some of your questions in my newsletter. So feel free to share them by messaging me here on Substack, if you want. https://marycarrollmoore.substack.com/
This is a helpful framing, Mary. I set goals for qualities too, though I'd never been able to define this succinctly. And I appreciate the sense of release that accompanies the idea that a too rigid goal setting may well usher in exactly what you asked for instead of something more aligned with who you are becoming.
Thank you Mary for the inspiration, as always. I love the opening photo, so inviting, cosy, warm and colourful. I can really relate to the sharing of stories with creative friends as an uplifting way to commence the year and the expansion of goal setting, staying open to new shifts and energy flows. It was great to read your definition of collage again, and the three questions re. the next 12 months. I have appreciated all your weekly writing posts of the past year, each one so timely, they have kept my writing flame alive during a very challenging time.
I absolutely love collage (or any art making). It's so beneficial. It helps us understand life, translate what we don't understand, get clear via our hands instead of our heads. It's also art therapy, wellness and play and leads to new ideas, insights and learning.
I am enjoying this post Mary. I have enjoyed cutting and pasting collages with you at several of your workships. I received encouragement from other students with interpreting the final collage. This year, looking back, I accomplished a major dream that I held for years...publishing a book. Your classes and edits definitely helped. I repeated several of your phrases in my head over last year that helped me go forward. Substack has helped me also figure out the post thoughts and most of all the "quality" and "magic in what we don't know". I have always focused on mental and spiritual health and it seems that this coming year, I'm heading in that same direction. Thank you Mary. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Mary - Thank you. I had just written in my journal - Which way do I want to go?
That's great timing, Marina! Enjoy!
